DRG has worked with levee districts in the Kansas City metropolitan area for over 50 years and currently serves as the consulting engineer for the Fairfax Drainage District* in Kansas City, KS and the Monticello Levee District in Shawnee, KS. DRG has provided assistance to three other local levee districts which has required regular coordination with the U.S. Army COE. DRG's experience includes assistance with day-to-day operation and maintenance activities, as well as operation during high-river conditions. Our design services have involved the following components of our clients' flood protection facilities:

• Levee Embankment Repair
• Chemical Treatment & Testing of Existing Pressure Relief Wells
• Analysis and Design of New Pressure Relief Wells
• Mapping, Evaluation and Modeling of Stormwater and Underseepage Piping Systems
• Design and Repair of Outfall Sewers and Isolation Structures
• Renovation and Design of Stormwater and Underseepage Pumping Stations

*One of our most complicated projects was the evaluation of the underseepage collection system for the Fairfax Drainage District. This project involved the design of more than 100 new pressure relief wells, along with associated modifications to the collection system. This work was made more challenging by the fact that the project was under construction during the midst of the 1993 flood event.
